On Wednesday, April 4 come support C Magazine at our signature fundraising auction of Canadian and international contemporary art. The 14th Annual C Magazine Contemporary Art Auction will be held at Scrap Metal Gallery, with auctioneer services provided by Perry Tung, courtesy of Bonhams Canada and art framing by Superframe. Each ticket includes great food, a wine bar, Grolsch beer and a subscription to C Magazine.

This year’s specially created C Auction Edition, Dreams Caught by Ursula Johnson, is a commercially produced dreamcatcher kit assembled according to manufacturer instructions. Attached is a length of hand dyed yarn from The Indian Truckhouse of High Art, with a printed tag that reads: “This object is 100% Authentic Indian
High Art. Made in Mi’kmaki.”

The auction includes over 50 works by local and international artists, each carefully chosen by the selection committee and generously donated by artists whose work reflects our mandate to advance the important cultural ideas and practices of contemporary art. Help C Magazine sustain vital conversations led by Canadian and international writers and artists – bid high and bid often for a chance to take home an original artwork!

Funds raised by the annual C Magazine Contemporary Art Auction directly support the work of Canadian artists and writers through the publication of art writing and artists’ projects in C Magazine and the presentation of related educational programming. Participating artists also receive a portion of the sales. Charitable donation receipts will be issued by C The Visual Arts Foundation for ticket and art purchases in excess of the market value.
