This article reviews Hito Steyerl’s exhibition Factory in the Sun at MOCA Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, presented from Feb. 21-Sept. 12, 2015.

This article considers the role of politics in contemporary art, looking specifically at political representation in Here and Elsewhere, an exhibition of work from and about the Arab world held at the New Museum. The author focuses on the work of collective GCC, discussing their use of parody to address the geopolitics of appearance. Recent projects at Project Native Informant and MoMA PS1 are discussed. Francis Fukuyama’s essay The End of History? is proposed as a way of understanding criticism of the collective’s work.

This article presents a review of the book Systems We Have Loved: Conceptual Art, Affect, and the Antihumanist Turn by Eve Meltzer (University of Chicago Press, 2013). Artists discussed in the book include Vito Acconci, Robert Morris, and Robert Smithson.
