Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective’s recent performance program in memoriam… added a new score and production by Postcommodity and Alex Waterman to a suite of four scores by the American composer Robert Ashley. The fifth score honours the lives of three Indigenous women from territory at the turn of the Century as it became the province of Alberta. Natasha Chaykowski’s article weaves together the histories of the scores and the commemorated individuals to further the work’s conversation regarding whom and how we memorialize.

Artist Rajni Perera uses an ethnographic lens to confront the historical archive and mythology and to recentre Black and Brown women.
