C Magazine and Art Metropole, in partnership with 1/Edition: Toronto’s Art Book Fair and Art Toronto, present Hannah Black as part of Art Toronto’s PLATFORM lecture series.

Black is an artist and writer from London. Her practice as an artist and writer draws on feminist, Marxist and black radical theory, autobiographical fragments, pop music, hope and hopelessness. She will inevitably discuss these themes in relation to recent work including her book Dark Pool Party, and the effort, the many failures, to make art and/or writing adequate to the world, probably mostly avoiding the question of what “the world” is.

Visit the C Magazine booth in the Publications section of the Art Toronto fair, and pick up our latest issue, C Magazine 131 “Experimental Pedagogies,” which delves into art education, including a close look at the MFA degree, the role of play in curriculum reforms by Fluxus artists in the 1960s. It also includes a discussion about the emergence of discursive programming in art galleries and a survey of DIY-style art schools.
