The article discusses Canadian artist Cheryl Sourkes’ “Cam works.” In these art projects, Sourkes samples a wide range of cyberimagery taken from street and nest cams; commercial, institutional and private camera sites, video chat rooms, and screenshots of instant messaging exchanges. The author writes that Sourkes’ project sources from the visual field of the internet and takes measure of the types and qualities of social behaviour exhibited by the populace of virtual postmodernity. Works mentioned in the article include Cam Cities (2001), Locations (2002-3), Interference (2003), and Homecammer: Guy (2006).
