Racialized Landscapes: Marking Territory Across North America

byMary E. Mendoza

In this piece, Mary E. Mendoza explores the history of USA-Mexico border security, as well as considering the evolution of the physical border, i.e., the fence in a political context. This history intersects with settler colonialism and indigenous eradication, and also speaks to the ways that the natural world- bugs, mammals, birds- navigate these intensely human constructs.
